I stated in the past that I am against Shohei Ohtani pitching this season, but since there is too much at stake if Shohei ever had to pitch, it would have to be in game 4. It is a desperate scenario for the Dodgers, and the team's starting pitching staff is depleted. Buehler is not 100%, just like Yamamoto. It is very doubtful that they are both at their peak; however, it should be taken into consideration to have Shohei start the game. It is going to be a bullpen game anyway. If you are going to go down, you have to try this because being down 1-2 in a series is a tough mountain to climb.
I could be wrong, and things will work out anyway. Given the depletion of the Dodgers' starting pitching staff, he should pitch if he can do so. It all hinges on Landon Knack, a rookie, whether his team goes home for game 5 or goes home eliminated from the playoffs. Having Shohei pitch one game should be considered if Shohei feels he is ready to make one start.
Game 3 got away from the Dodgers quickly after leading in the 1st inning on Mookie Betts’ solo homer. Buehler’s tough 2nd inning should have been shortened by not letting him pitch to Tatis when he was clearly out of control. He eventually gained his composure, but in this game, his team lost because of that 2nd inning. The Dodgers do not have too many options left and probably have taken the bold move of having Shohei pitch one game as their only option.
