Steven is a constant professional and handle every challenge on the field in a calm manner.
Steven Kwan has become one of the more reliable players on
the Cleveland Guardians, and even though he is not the kind of hitter who is
going to lead the league in home runs, he still brings a lot of value to the
team. He was born on September 5, 1997, in Los Gatos, California, and later
went to Oregon State, where he was part of the 2018 College World Series
championship team.
Cleveland drafted him in the fifth round of the 2018 MLB
Draft, and he made his debut on April 7, 2022. Since then, he has turned
himself into a very important piece for the Guardians because of how
well-rounded his game is. He gets on base, puts the ball in play, plays elite
defense in the outfield, and does a lot of the small things that help a team win games over a long season.
Since reaching the majors, Kwan has already won Gold Gloves
and made an All-Star team, showing that he is not just a regular player but one
of the better defensive outfielders in the league. His game is not really built
around power, but that does not take away from how valuable he is because he
can control the strike zone, make consistent contact, and give Cleveland
dependable at-bats at the top of the lineup.
This season has been more of a struggle for Kwan offensively,
though, especially compared to what people are used to seeing from him. As of
early July 2026, he is batting around .214 with 58 hits, 1 home run, 13 RBIs,
34 runs, and 3 stolen bases in 79 games. For his career, he is still around a
.274 hitter with 707 hits, 37 home runs, 219 RBIs, 380 runs, and 76 stolen
bases, so even if this year has not gone the way he probably wanted, his overall
track record still shows why he is an important player for Cleveland.
