Cleveland Guardians Vs New York Yankees

The Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians nearly survived the feisty Detroit Tigers team, who surpassed all expectations this season. Tigers fans should be very proud of the players who did their best, but the Guardians were just a little more equipped to handle the obstacles along the way.

Down 2-1 against the Tigers, the Guardians seemed most likely to go home early, but they managed to ink out two wins in a row to pass the resilient Tigers team. David Fry's homer in the top of the 7th inning with Steven Kwan on base was big, as it put his team up 4-3. They would eventually score one more run in the top of the 9th inning, making the score 5-3. In the bottom of the 9th, the Tigers scored one run, which proved that the top of the 9th inning run was absolutely crucial.

Fast forward to the 5th game of the series, bottom of the 5th inning with the score 1-1, Lane Thomas comes up to the plate, bases loaded. He swings. The score changes to 5-1 in favor of Cleveland. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what I call clutch.

Up next for the Guardians is the New York Yankees, Aaron Judge's team, the runaway, without a doubt, the best offensive player in recent history. This series is a rematch of the 2022 ALDS in which the Yankees won in 5 games; however, this Cleveland Guardians team is different. Steven Kwan is batting over.500 with 11 hits, beating his own record, which he set in 2022 of 9.

A.J. Hinch, the Tigers manager, termed Steven Kwan the "engine" that "creates a lot of pressure."

There is no question about it; Kwan is a special player. Pressure doesn't phase him. He's an elite hitter in search of his first championship. The first game will be on October 14th in Yankee Stadium.

What Cleveland needs to do is establish the pace early and score early. With that, they have to keep Aaron Judge at bay by not letting him get comfortable. If Aaron Judge establishes a rhythm, it could pose a significant challenge for the team. Both teams are better versions of themselves compared to the ALDS matchup back in 2022.
