The Red Sox finished the 2024 season with an 81-81 record. It's subpar, but it still couldn't make the playoffs. Masataka Yoshida is one of the best hitters on the team, with a .285 BA as a Red Sox, but was limited to 375 at-bats due to injury to a torn labrum on his right arm. This injury is similar to the one that kept Lee Jung Hoo out of the Giants' lineup for a significant period. However, the injury Lee Jung Hoo suffered was in the shoulder area rather than the arm.
With better defensive options, Yoshida has been limited to being the DH of the team while battling a thumb injury throughout the 2024 campaign. This leaves the Red Sox in a dilemma of either having to use him as an outfielder occasionally or just trading him if they turn Rafael Devers into a full-time DH, which could be possible.
After a long time off from the game due to the injury, Yoshida has now been cleared to take batting practice. This, however, doesn't foretell when he is going to return in a live game.
Lee Jung Hoo
After hitting his first home run a few days ago, Lee Jung Hoo seemed to have kept in shape throughout inactivity. He's moving well, and he's playing excellent defense. It's too early to know for sure just how healthy he is after being out of the game for so long, but after these few days, things are looking pretty good.
Lee has a lot to prove after signing the 6-year, 113 million-dollar deal with San Francisco. He never really got a footing in 2024, as he injured his shoulder, which kept him out of the field throughout the remainder of the season. So far, he's having a decent performance at the plate, unlike his fellow countryman, Kim Hye-Seong, who seems to be having a harder time adjusting to MLB-talent pitching.
Trade him
