Los Angeles Dodgers: World Series Champions!

As I got myself ready to watch the World Series, I slowly gathered my carbonated drinks and some snacks. Nothing important was going to happen. Right? Aaron Judge, the shoo-in regular season MVP, who had been struggling in the playoffs, finally homered in the World Series. And then Jazz Chisholm homered as well, making the score 3-0 in favor of the Yankees. Then, I couldn't help but say in my mind, “Oh, my. This is going back to Los Angeles."

The second, third, and fourth innings went by. Cole was on a roll, and the Yankees were in a good position to win the game. Then, the fifth inning came along with the Yankees with a 5-0 lead thanks to Stanton's homer. The fifth inning came along with Kike Hernandez starting with a bloop single. Harmless, you would think. Then, with Tommy Edman hitting a routine fly ball, the ball drops to the ground as it bounces off Judge's glove. Now, there are two runners on base for the Dodgers rather than one runner on first base. Will Smith comes up to bat and hits a routine ball to Volpe. He makes an error. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Gavin Lux swings and misses, striking out with Shohei Ohtani up next. He also struck out. The top of the fifth inning seemed never-ending. The right man for the moment comes up. Mookie Betts hits a routine groundball to first, setting up a situation for Freddie Freeman to send home two teammates. The score becomes 3-5. Teoscar Hernandez, who's a free agent in the offseason, sends another two teammates home, tying the game 5-5.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Yankees took back the lead thanks to Stanton's sacrifice fly.

Then the top of the eighth inning came along. Kike and Edman both hit quick singles. Will Smith drew a walk, filling all bases with runners. This made it possible for Gavin Lux to hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 6-6. With Shohei Ohtani batting next, the Yankees' catcher was charged by the catcher's interference, meaning the catcher interfered with the hitter's at-bat. With one out, Mookie Betts had another sacrifice fly for the Dodgers to now lead 7-6.

In a surprise move, Dave Roberts sent starting pitcher Walker Buehler to close the game. And, with ease, he struck out the side.

This is a game that got away from the Yankees. I really can't make excuses for the sloppiness they displayed. It's inexcusable. It did expose the Yankees' lack of defensive depth. They are capable of doing better. I expect the Yankees to revamp some of the key areas they are lacking, like the bullpen and shortstop. The key difference between the Yankees and the Dodgers was relief pitching. The Dodgers' pitching staff was more used to the pressurized situation. In other words, they were more clutch.

As they announced who the MVP was, Freddie Freeman, I still couldn't believe what I had just seen. Judge dropping the ball, Volpe's error on third, and Cole's non-coverage of first base. These are all fundamentals that are all mastered by players before they reach the MLB level. Terrible.

The city of Los Angeles can now celebrate their eighth World Series title.
